Our Accessibility Goal

Essence of Silk aims to improve accessibility by working toward recognized web accessibility practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Our goal is to make the website easier to navigate, read, understand, and use across different devices, browsers, and assistive technologies.

Accessibility Practices

As the website develops, we aim to support:

clear page structure, descriptive headings, readable typography, sufficient color contrast, meaningful alternative text for educational images, keyboard-friendly navigation where possible, logical link text, responsive layouts, and clear contact options.

Images and Educational Content

Essence of Silk uses original silk photography, fabric images, cocoon images, process documentation, and visual archive materials.

We aim to provide meaningful alt text where images support the educational purpose of a page. Decorative images may have minimal or empty alt text when they do not add educational meaning.

Ongoing Improvements

Essence of Silk is currently being developed. Accessibility review and improvement will be an ongoing process as new pages, images, silk fabrication studies, and archive materials are added.

Some older content, placeholder images, third-party embedded content, or technical features may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals. We intend to improve these areas over time.

Third-Party Content

Some accessibility limitations may come from third-party tools, plugins, embedded media, or linked websites that we do not fully control. We will make reasonable efforts to choose tools and layouts that support accessibility.
