Essence of Silk is an educational silk archive dedicated to the art, science, and story of silk.

Because silk is a complex natural material with many regional terms, fabrication names, production methods, and historical traditions, we welcome thoughtful corrections, clarifications, and contributions that may help improve the accuracy and depth of this archive.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Essence of Silk is built from long-standing silk experience, original photography, manufacturer visits, textile documentation, and hands-on study.

We make reasonable efforts to describe silk clearly and carefully. However, silk terminology may vary between countries, mills, suppliers, designers, weavers, researchers, and textile traditions.

If you believe a page contains an error, unclear wording, incomplete explanation, outdated information, or terminology that should be refined, we welcome your message.

What You May Submit

You may contact us regarding:

• corrections to silk terminology,
• clarification of silk fabrication names,
• additional information about silk origins,
• notes about cocoon, yarn, weaving, dyeing, or finishing methods,
• observations about silk behavior or care,
• historical or regional silk references,
• image or caption corrections,
• broken links or technical page issues,
• accessibility concerns,
• or suggestions for future Essence of Silk topics.

Educational Contributions

Essence of Silk may also welcome educational contributions from people with relevant textile, silk, weaving, dyeing, couture, conservation, academic, or production experience.

A contribution may include a correction, explanation, reference, image note, technical observation, or suggestion for improving a page.

Please do not submit confidential, proprietary, private, or commercially sensitive information unless we have agreed in writing to receive it.

Image and Photography Notes

Essence of Silk uses original photography and visual documentation. If you believe an image caption, alt text, file description, or page context should be corrected or clarified, please include the image page URL and a clear explanation.

Please do not send third-party images unless you own the rights or have permission to share them.

How to Submit a Correction or Contribution

When contacting us, please include:

• your name,
• your email address,
• the page URL,
• the section or image involved,
• the correction or contribution you are suggesting,
• and any source, explanation, or context that may help us review it.

If your note relates to silk terminology, regional use, production method, or historical information, please include as much context as possible.

Review Process

Corrections and contributions are reviewed before any change is made.

Submitting a correction or contribution does not guarantee that Essence of Silk will publish, revise, or adopt the suggested material. We may edit, summarize, verify, decline, or save the information for future review.

If a correction is accepted, Essence of Silk may update the relevant page without separately identifying the contributor unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

No Obligation to Publish

Essence of Silk reserves the right to decide whether, when, and how to use submitted information.

We may decline submissions that are unclear, promotional, inaccurate, unverifiable, unrelated to silk education, or inconsistent with the purpose of the archive.
